Indie Author Spotlight – Ruhi

One of the most inspiring posts I see on my many author forums is when someone takes the time to share their story. Each Friday, I’m going to feature a different indie author to help inspire all of you!

What is your pen name?

Ruhi

What genre do you write in?

Fantasy Romance, Poetry, Contemporary Romance

How many books have you published?

One.

What inspired you to become a writer?

Writing has always been a form of emotional release and escapism for me. It wasn’t until I wrote a poem in high school that was selected to be published in our school’s literary magazine, that I was inspired to work towards something even more tangible. I wanted to see my thoughts and words on pages I could see and feel. From then on, I became motivated to seriously pursue a writing career and eventually work my way into the film industry via screenwriting.

What is your indie success story?

I recently submitted a poem from my debut poetry collection to a literary magazine (Overheard Magazine) and it was chosen for publication in their upcoming issue.

What are your marketing and advertising strategies?

I manage an Instagram account where I post my poems and book excerpts. I also reach out to local indie bookstores for events.

What are you working on right now?

I am working on a full length novel with themes adapted from my poetry collection.
